I’ve never really been one for New Year’s Resolutions. Don’t get me wrong I’m all about doing new things and taking risks and stepping outside of your  comfort zone. In fact, I did some pretty big things this year. I ran the Boston Marathon. I celebrated one amazing year of marriage. And I started this blog. But I just did those things because they were part of my life and what excited me. So I did them! I always have little goals and ideas here and there but I don’t like to obsess over making sure I do this one specific thing. I’ve found that for me that doesn’t work. And I think it’s the same for a lot of other people. You make a list of goals, and then before you know it, you’re behind, and you get discouraged and forget about it altogether. (I think a lot of that comes from people’s unrealistic expectations of themselves, but that’s a topic for another day.)

I will tell what I want to see this next year in my life though. I want to see “all that glitters”. And I don’t mean glitters in a sparkle and sequins kind of way, I mean glitters because it’s something lasting and eternal. I want to hold on to the things that truly matter. I want God to become even more real to me than He is today. And I know that’s not too much to ask because I serve a God who loves to give good things to His children. Jeremiah 33:3 says “Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.” Another version says “secret things”. I want to know the secret things of God. That sounds pretty amazing to me. And I think that the deeper my relationship with God goes, all of the things that I want to “be better” at will just flow out of that. Because at the end of the day, I don’t care what I DO with my year, but I do know that I want to BE all that I am called to be. I want to love harder, forgive without bitterness, listen well and serve with no strings attached. I want to be noticed because of God’s love in me, not because of anything I do. Will you join me in making that what this next year is about? I know it can’t go wrong.

I also would like to say a huge thank you to all of you for believing in me and following along as I started my new journey of blogging this year. I cannot tell you how much your support has meant to me. I’m so excited for what’s in store this next year!

C’mon 2015, show me your sparkle.
