Remember that rule about no white after Labor Day. Yah, throw that out the window. I don’t know who came up with it. (Actually now I’m curious so I’ll go Google and be right back.) 😛
Alright, I’ve got the scoop now. Back in the 1800’s, after the Civil War, the wives of the super rich ruled the high society. As time went on and more people became rich quick as society grew, it became more difficult to distinguish the “old” rich from the “new” rich. In other words, those who had worked hard and became rich over time from those who just happened upon wealth. To distinguish themselves, the original ladies of the high society came up with fashion rules among themselves. This was so that if a lady came in wearing something that didn’t coincide with their fashion rules, then they knew she wasn’t REALLY a true member of their high society. And thus not to pay her any attention. Out of this time came the no white after Labor Day rule. Pretty interesting right?!
Well that was then and this is now, and I guarantee if you walked in anywhere wearing this outfit no matter the time of year, most people would be paying you a lot of attention. 😛 And if some rich ladies are out there still thinking I don’t belong in their high society, well one, they are probably right; two, I don’t care; and three, if you like it wear it.
This is one of my fave looks to date! There’s just something so feminine and girly about an all white look. And pairing it with a leather jacket adds just the right amount of edge. P.S. If you haven’t yet invested in a real leather jacket, take it from the girl who waited way too long, and do it!
Ben was off on Sunday which is always my favorite day when he is home. There’s just something about going to church, family time and spending the day relaxing. And we were lucky enough to actually get some rain to make it even better!
Hope you all had the best weekend!
